Movement pattern
We check which directions feel limited, painful, guarded, or different after repeated movement.
Neck Physical Therapy
Start Here
A stiff neck may become obvious while checking a blind spot, working at a computer, lying in bed, lifting overhead, or trying to train through a flare. Each situation gives us different information.
We look at neck motion, shoulder and upper-back contribution, strength, nerve symptoms, and the positions you spend the most time in. The plan should fit the day you have to live.
Common Presentations
Neck problems often change across the day and with repeated positions.
What We Assess
Posture can change symptoms, but it rarely tells the whole story. We test movement, strength, sensitivity, and the positions your day requires.
We check which directions feel limited, painful, guarded, or different after repeated movement.
Arm pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness changes the screen and may change the referral plan.
Strength and motion around the shoulder girdle may affect work, lifting, and overhead tasks.
Desk time, driving, sleep, training, and stress can change the dose the neck sees each week.
The Rehab Process
01
Restore useful motion and reduce the amount of guarding around everyday tasks.
02
Strengthen the neck, shoulders, upper back, and trunk according to the job ahead.
03
Progress work, driving, sleep positions, lifting, or sport without relying on constant symptom avoidance.
Common Questions
Yes, some neck and nerve problems can produce symptoms into the shoulder, arm, or hand. Other upper-extremity conditions can look similar, so the pattern needs to be assessed.
We can assess headaches that appear related to neck movement, stiffness, or muscle and joint symptoms. Sudden, severe, new, or unusual headaches need medical evaluation.
Often we can modify range, load, exercise choice, or volume while rehab begins. The answer depends on the symptom pattern and exam.
